Event Founder - Dane S. Harden - His martial arts training began in 1969 and for most of his life he has pursued a warriors path. The experience as a professional soldier - health care provider - teacher - and martial artist of the old school is indeed unique. Some of his many accolades and accomplishments include: (Martial Arts Credentials) 7th Dan Tae Kwon Do - Kom Do Kwon. 3rd Dan Yoshinkan Aikido (Chudokai Aikido Federation International) - 3rd Dan Samurai Sword (Sword Instructors Menkyo) Goshindo Batto-Do.
He is also the President and Founder of Western Masters Martial Arts, Incorporated (1979). He holds the following positions in the martial arts community: Senior Mentors Board of Advisors for the Joe Lewis Fighting System - Medical Advisory Board for USADojo.com - Medical and Martial Arts Advisor for FightCon.com - A published author he has written numerous articles for Black Belt Magazine on Dojo Medicine. Aikido Journal on various topics and USA Dojo, Martial University, and many other sites. He is a Martial Arts "Masters Hall of Fame" Recipient - Anaheim, California and was also inducted into the Martial Arts Hall of Fame in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
His real world military background includes entering the military in June 1976, as a Private (Combat Engineer). He has steadily climbed the ranks and is a "Full-Bird" Colonel - U.S. Army Medical Specialist Corps., a Senior Flight Surgeon (APA-C) and a Graduate of the United States Army Command and General Staff Officer's College. Also, a combat veteran with many deployments to Estonia, Bosnia-Hertzgovina, Kosovo, Slovenia, Hungary, Iraq, Afghanistan, Hurricane Katrina, and recently the Dominican Republic. Further he also has numerous military accolades and decorations to his credit (some are listed) - The Combat Air Medal (Iraq) - The Order of Military Medical Merit (cummulative career award) - Humanitarian Service Medal (Katrina) - NATO Peacekeeping Medal (Former Yugoslavia) -Meritorious Service Medal (Numerous) - and many other awards and honors from twenty-seven years of military service in the United States Army and Army National Guard. Colonel Harden currently serves as the Deputy Commander/MEDCOM - Army National Guard.
Finally his civilian education - Bachelor of Science Degrees: Biological Science and Respiratory Therapy (RRT). Masters Degrees in Medical Science Education and Military Sciences. Professional Degree as a Physician Assistant and he is a board certified (PA-C) Primary Care Medicine. He also has completed dual specializations in emergency medicine and orthopaedics. Finally, he is a avid outdoorsman and is a "Fellow" and lecturer for the Wilderness Medical Society.
Through the wilderness medicine organization he was introduced to alpine mountaineering and a list of more noted summits include: Mt. Blanc Chamonix, France, Zugspitza (Alps) Germany, Draiterspiza (Alps) Germany, Mt. Hood (USA), Mt. Shasta (USA), Mt. Wheeler (USA), and Maroon Bells (USA). He published an article called "Jiki Shin Kore Dojo"..."If the mind is right....everywhere is a dojo" which relates his experiences as a martial artist, soldier, and alpinist.
